What Mathdle is, technically

Mathdle is a static site. There is no account system, no login, and no server-side database for player data. The puzzle of the day is the same for everyone and is delivered as a JSON file alongside the page.

Your puzzle progress

Your progress — found expressions, points, streak, settings — lives entirely in your browser's localStorage, under the key mathdle:v2. Nothing leaves your device. Clearing your browser data clears your Mathdle history. We do not have copies of it on a server.

Analytics

Mathdle uses Plausible Analytics when enabled, to count pageviews and a small set of product events (puzzle started, puzzle completed, share clicked). Plausible is cookieless, sets no persistent identifiers, and does not track you across sites. No personal information is collected by Plausible.

Advertising

Mathdle displays modest advertising on the archive and the info pages (about, how-to-play, glossary, math, tips, privacy, terms). The daily puzzle and today's gameplay surface are deliberately kept ad-free.

Advertising is provided by Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on a visitor's prior interactions with this and other sites. You can learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by Google by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

Visitors located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland are shown a consent prompt before any personalised ads are served, as required by applicable law.

Cookies and similar technologies

Mathdle itself does not set any first-party tracking cookies. Plausible is cookieless. Google AdSense, as a third party, may set cookies on pages where ads are shown; the categories and purposes are described in the Google policy linked above. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Children

Mathdle is suitable for general audiences but is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through this site, contact us using the address below and we will take appropriate action.

Your rights

Because Mathdle holds no account data on a server, there is no profile to access, export, or delete. To remove your own progress, clear your browser's data for this site. For questions about Google AdSense cookies and personal data processed by Google, see the Google policy link above; Google is the controller for that processing.

Open Graph

The Open Graph endpoint sees the date in the URL and the request headers your browser (or whichever messenger generated the preview) sent; nothing is logged.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the “last updated” date at the top will change. Trivial copy edits are not separately announced.
